4 Charles Prime Rib is 45 seats in the West Village. That number explains everything about why this reservation is so difficult and why the restaurant enforces its booking policies the way it does.
Reservations release on Resy at 9 AM, 21 days out. Resy is the only authorized booking channel. The restaurant's own page says so explicitly, and 4 Charles has made enforcement a priority. Any third-party service offering 4 Charles reservations is not authorized. The restaurant has stated it will cancel reservations identified as sold or traded and flag the associated accounts from booking again. Appointment Trader is named specifically.
When you book on Resy, a $5 per person reservation fee is charged at the time of booking. This is not a deposit and it does not go toward your bill. It is a non-refundable fee that exists to reduce no-shows in a 45-seat room. Read the fine print before you book: your party size is locked at the time of reservation. Reducing your party size at any time, including on the night, results in a $50 per person reduction fee applied to your final check, for any reason. Book the correct party size the first time.
4 Charles serves brunch Friday through Sunday and it is meaningfully easier to land than dinner. The full menu is available at brunch. If your date is flexible and you're open to a midday meal, a weekend brunch reservation is the highest-percentage path to a seat.
There is no walk-in program at 4 Charles. People occasionally show up hoping for a same-day cancellation and sometimes it works. It is not a path you can count on in a 45-seat room with this level of demand.
4 Charles is open seven days a week. Many restaurants at this level close Sunday and Monday. A Sunday or Monday dinner reservation, while still competitive, is somewhat easier to land than a Friday or Saturday.
