The Carlyle's legendary cocktail room is one of New York's great institutions. Ludwig Bemelmans' murals cover the walls. The only surviving Bemelmans commission open to the public. Chocolate-brown leather banquettes, nickel-trimmed black glass tabletops, a dramatic black granite bar, and a 24-karat gold leaf ceiling. Live music every night, 69 seats, and a booking window that opens three months out on Resy. The longest lead time on this list and worth every day of the wait. Walk-ins are highly encouraged.
