The Eighty Six Reservations

The Catch Hospitality steakhouse occupies the former Chumley's at 86 Bedford Street, the Prohibition-era literary haunt where Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Cummings, and Steinbeck once drank, and where the term "86" is said to have originated. The 35-seat Art Deco room has vintage French steak knives, crystal water decanters, velvet banquettes in jewel tones, and a fireplace nook that was Fitzgerald's favorite seat. Chef Michael Vignola, who also runs the Corner Store kitchen, anchors the menu around a serious steak program sourced from small independent ranches: a fourteen-day dry-aged deckle from South Dakota, a porterhouse for two with marrow bones. The cocktail program mirrors the Corner Store's ambition. Two to four walk-in bar seats available nightly; arrive by 4:30 PM.
